Values
What we believe
We believe life happens off-screen.
Social media was supposed to bring us closer.
Somewhere along the way, it became a place to watch other people live instead.
We scroll through more content than ever, yet somehow feel less connected. Our feeds are becoming infinite, increasingly artificial, and optimized to keep us looking rather than living.
We think social technology can do better.
Side is built around a few simple beliefs.
People over content
The best part of social media was never the content. It was the people.
We believe technology should help friendships grow stronger, create conversations, and give people reasons to spend time together — not replace those things.
Participation over consumption
Most platforms are built around watching.
We want to build around doing.
Trying something new. Going somewhere. Calling a friend. Making a memory. Doing something stupid just because someone dared you to.
The goal isn’t more screen time.
It’s more life.
Real over perfect
Life is messy, spontaneous, awkward and unpredictable.
That’s what makes it good.
We don’t want Side to become another place where people feel pressure to perform, curate a perfect identity, or compete for attention.
We’d rather see what actually happened.
Friends over followers
Not everything needs an audience.
Some of the best moments are meaningful precisely because they’re shared with a few people you care about.
We want to build for friendships, group chats and real communities — not follower counts.
Technology should give something back
Every product competes for a piece of your attention.
We think the question should be: what do you get in return?
If you spend time on Side, we hope you leave with something more valuable than another hour gone — a plan, a story, a new experience, or time spent with someone you care about.
The world is more interesting than your feed.
Side exists to help you get back to it.
